Motels or Hotels in Lee County, Kentucky

Lee County, Kentucky is a sparsely populated prohibition county. The county is best known for its timber and coal industries, which both operate out of the Eastern Mountain Coal Fields. The coal fields make up a large percentage of the county's area, and the Daniel Boone National Forest encompasses roughly half. Given how remote the area is, there are only a handful of motels and hotels in Lee County; two in the county's only city, Beattyville.

  1. Red River Gorge

    • The Red River Gorge is located just outside the town of Zachariah, in northeastern Lee County. The lodge is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Daniel Boone National Forest and offers an authentic countryside experience. Cabins come with full kitchens. There is no restaurant available at the Red River Gorge, and visitors will need to travel five miles north to Pine Ridge and the Gorge Bistro restaurant. Guests can go hiking or biking in the Daniel Boone National Forest, and a rock climbing adventure park is available in the town center of Zachariah. The nearest convenience store is 17 miles from the Red River Gorge in the outskirts of Beattyville.

    Tincher's Motel

    • Tincher's Motel is five miles south of Beattyville, and offers access to both downtown Beattyville and the Daniel Boone National Forest. Pets are welcome to stay with guests, and four-legged friends may well enjoy the small lake which is adjacent to the motel. The motel also has a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. Although Beattyville is not well known for its tourism, in the third week of October each year the city hosts the Woolly Worm Festival, with a parade, car show, entertainment and musical acts. Three airports are roughly equidistant from the motel, with Calla, Stanton and Julian Carroll airports each around 20 miles away. A handful of dining options and convenience stores are five miles away in downtown Beattyville.

    Travelwise Motor Inn

    • The Travelwise Motor Inn is near the cafes, bars and restaurants in Beattyville. Guests can enjoy a seasonal outdoor swimming pool at this secluded motel that is surrounded by the leafy, green countryside of the Daniel Boone National Forest. While hiking, biking, climbing and other outdoor activities are available in the forest, travelers to Beattyville can also enjoy fishing in Kentucky River, which starts in the city.
