Montezuma Hotels

The former fishing village of Montezuma lies near the southern end of Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula in the Puntarenas province. This small Pacific Coast beach village is surrounded by jungle cliffs, where tourists find numerous waterfalls, natural pools, rivers and native capuchin monkeys. Montezuma's expansive beaches, Pacific waves and laid-back atmosphere attracts many surfers to the area. Accommodations, restaurants and beaches compose the village's entirety, with commercial services offered in nearby Cobano. For overnight visitors, Montezuma offers a variety of lodging options.

  1. Hotel El Jardin

    • Set in the center of Montezuma, less than 400 feet from the beach, the hillside Hotel El Jardin offers 15 guest rooms in independent buildings spread throughout a colorful tropical garden. In addition, two oceanview villas with full kitchens and yards are available. Accommodations cater to guests who enjoy the outdoors. While all accommodations offer basic amenities (including high-speed wireless Internet access), not all have telephones and televisions.

      The hotel features two outdoor swimming pools and a full-service spa. A complimentary fruit and coffee tray is offered each morning in the lobby area. Several restaurants, bars and nightclubs are just steps from the hotel.

      The Hotel El Jardin organizes several excursions and activities, including rafting, bungee jumping, zip-line tours, six-hour boat trips to Tortuga Island, deep-sea fishing trips and scuba diving excursions. The hotel also provides a guided tour of Cabo Blanco Absolute Reserves.

    Hotel Los Mangos

    • Tucked within a mango grove facing the ocean, the Hotel Los Mangos offers 10 guest rooms in a two-floor building. Six rooms have private baths; the four units that share a bath offer discounted rates.. Room furnishings cater to guests who need only basic amenities, and no in-room telephones or televisions are available. Nine bungalows scattered throughout the property also are available and feature porches with hammocks.

      Hotel highlights include a secluded oceanview free-form swimming pool with waterfall, hot tub and yoga pavilion. The hotel regularly offers yoga classes, group yoga workshops and retreats.

      Dining options, bars and nightclubs are just a three-minute walk to the village center. Popular tourist activities include waterfall canopy tours, ATV adventure trips, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, and dolphin and whale watching.

    Hotel Amor de Mar

    • Across from Montezuma's well known waterfall, the rustic oceanfront Hotel Amor de Mar offers 11 cozy guest rooms and two oceanview rental houses. All are modestly furnished with floor fans, wireless Internet access and safe deposit boxes; some feature air conditioning. No in-room telephones or televisions are available. Two rooms share a bath and offer a discounted rate. Two two-story rental houses feature full kitchens and daily maid service. One house accommodates up to six guests, and the other sleeps up to four.

      An on-site restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, with home-baked bread, fruit platters, fruit juices, egg dishes and crepes prepared daily. Other dining, shopping and nightlife venues are a five-minute walk from the hotel.

      Area activities include kayaking, scuba diving, sport fishing, beach horseback riding, excursions to the Curu Wildlife Refuge and canopy tours.
