Founded as a station along a Pony Express route, Ely is a small town in eastern Nevada. The city is home to Hotel Nevada, a hotel, dining and gaming tourist attraction that opened in 1929. At six stories tall, it was the tallest building in Nevada until the 1940s. Ely has about 4,000 residents, and is home to several motels.
