Chadron is in northwestern Nebraska's Dawes County. The city is situated in the Pine Ridge region, south of the Black Hills and west of the Sand Hills. Chadron, which is named for a mid-19th century fur trapper, is home to the Museum of the Fur Trade. Other visitor attractions include paleontology and geology exhibits at the Trailside Museum and the Nebraska National Forest.
