Historic Kentucky Hotels

Historic hotels in Kentucky allow you to see what life was like when elegance was theorder of the day. The National Trust for Historic Preservations has designated two Kentucky hotels as Historic Hotels of America, but you'll also find other hostelries listed on the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places.

  1. The Brown Hotel

    • The Brown Hotel is located in Louisville, Kentucky and offers sixteen floors of English Renaissance and classical architecture. The adjacent theater and conference center allows for entertainment and business meetings, while the interior gives you a place to experience early 20th century style. The Brown Hotel was opened in 1923 by J. Graham Brown, and designed by architect Preston J. Bradshaw. If you've ever heard of the "hot brown" sandwich, it was invented here in the 1920s to fuel people who were tired from dancing. Onsite eateries include the English Grill restaurant and J. Graham's Cafe, where you can still enjoy the above-mentioned sandwich. Transportation to the airport is free and so is the Internet access. The Brown Hotel is a Historic Hotel of America and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places
