Memphis is located in the southwestern portion of Tennessee. Memphis is a large city with a high population, but for those that want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and venture out into more rural areas, cabin retreats can provide an excellent opportunity for a break from metropolitan living. Rentals by Owner

    • Many cabin owners rent their cabins out seasonally instead of allowing their properties to sit empty. Certain cabins near Memphis are rented out periodically by their owners. Costs can vary depending on how big of a cabin you're looking to rent, how many people are in your party and how long your stay will be. Search for the type of cabin you want by perusing websites such as Forrent by Owner, Home Away and Craigslist (see Resources).

    Standard Cabin Rentals

    • Standard cabin rentals owned by rental companies or small hospitality businesses are prevalent near Memphis. For example, Chickasaw Chalet (chickasawchalet.com), located in Henderson, Tenn., owns a cluster of cabins that can be rented on an individual basis. These cabins all come with central heat and air, two bedrooms and a full bath. The maximum capacity per cabin is seven people. Blue Creek Cabin Bed and Breakfast (bluecreekcabin.com), located just over the state line in Mississippi, combines a "rustic" 1800s log cabin with the bed and breakfast experience.
