Situated on the Kenai Peninsula, the 13-mile Russian River stretches from the Upper Russian Lake to the Kenai River. Outdoor enthusiasts frequent the Russian River for salmon fishing. Founded in 1925, Gwin's Lodge in Cooper Landing is on the banks of the Kenai River, less than 20 minutes from the nearby Russian River. This cabin resort has been featured in travel publications such as "Fodor's," "Alaska Adventure Guide" and "Frommer's." Hike on walking trails in the Chugach National Forest within walking distance from Gwin's Lodge. The cabins at this resort are lined up together and fall under two classifications: deluxe chalets and mid-chalets. The Kenai River Drifters Lodge on the Kenai River is an approximate 20-minute trip from the Russian River and offers amenities such as a sauna, campfire area, complimentary continental breakfast and facilities for fishing and boating. The resort offers hotel room accommodations as well as log cabins. Six log cabins are available to rent. Cabins 5 and 6 are two-story cabins that can sleep up to seven people with two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, as well as a sofa bed in the living room and chair that can be turned into a twin-sized bed.
