Campgrounds Near the McKenzie River

The 90-mile McKenzie River in central Oregon is a tributary of the Willamette River and passes through Willamette National Forest to Clear Lake. RV travelers have access to campgrounds along the McKenzie River near the towns of Eugene, McKenzie Bridge and Blue River. Most of these campgrounds have private docks on the river for the use of their guests and are accessible via the McKenzie Highway, which runs parallel to McKenzie River.
  1. Armitage Campground

    • Armitage Campground (no website; 90064 Coburg Road, Eugene, OR 97408; 541-682-2000) is a 57-acre recreation area approximately 10 minutes north of Eugene. This campground is less than two miles from where the McKenzie River joins the Willamette River. Armitage has 37 RV campsites with hook-ups for electricity, water, cable television and sewage. The campground also has a 2-acre park area for dogs, where they may roam without a leash. Four picnic pavilions are available for large groups of 100 to 200 guests; these sites have barbecue grills.

    Holiday Farm RV Resort

    • Located in Blue River, the Holiday Farm RV Resort (holidayfarmrvresort.com) is right off the McKenzie Highway, approximately an hour east of Eugene. This riverfront RV campground offers visitors access to on-site hiking trails and guided fishing trips on the McKenzie River. All 43 of Holiday Farm's RV campsites have cable television, water, electricity and sewage hook-ups. Weekly and monthly rates are available; monthly campers may have landline telephone hook-ups. Pets may stay at Holiday Farm.

    Patio RV Resort

    • Patio RV Resort (patiorv.com) is in Blue River and is on the McKenzie River. This campground features 20 sites located on the riverfront. Patio has 60 RV campsites in total and all sites have water, electric and sewage hook-ups. The RV resort provides complimentary dump service. Other amenities include Wi-Fi Internet, docks for fishing on the river and storage units. Golfing activities are within 20 minutes at the 18-hole Tokatee Golf Course.

    Horse Creek Group Campground

    • Blue River's The Horse Creek Group Campground (fs.usda.gov) is approximately 10 minutes south of the McKenzie River. This campground is a part of Willamette National Forest and has 17 RV campsites. Each campsite has water and electric hook-ups. A dump station and picnic areas with barbecue grills are available. Pets may come to the park. Guests have access to fishing opportunities at Horse Creek, which runs on the north side of the campground. Horse Creek Group has restroom facilities.

    Belknap Hot Springs, Lodge and Gardens

    • Belknap Hot Springs, Lodge and Gardens (belknaphotsprings.com) is in the town of McKenzie Bridge. This RV campground has 39 sites and 11 of the sites have waterfront locations on the McKenzie River. The riverfront sites have water and electric hook-ups. Full hook-ups -- water, sewage and electric -- are available on 16 of the sites. Six of the sites in the woods allow tent camping. Belknap allows visitors to swim in their hot springs pools; one of the pools, the upper pool, is only for overnight guests. This resort also has a gardens area with walking paths.
