Northern Missouri provides many camping opportunities, and staying in a rustic cabin is one way to experience outdoor camping without actually sleeping outdoors. Mark Twain State Park is located in northeastern Missouri's Salt River Hills. Puma Campground, one of the campgrounds within the park, offers traditional campsites as well as camper cabins. The six cabins each sleep up to four adults and two children. Indoor amenities include electricity, heating and air conditioning, a table, mini-fridge, ceiling fan and toaster oven. The cabins do not have running water or toilets, but the campground restrooms and drinking water are near by. Cabins are available for rent year-round, and during the off-season guests must use a vault toilet located within walking distance. Outdoor cabin amenities include a picnic table, porch and bench, pedestal and campfire grills. Guests must bring their own bedding, towels, eating and cooking utensils and any other camping gear they want.

Down Under Camp Resort in Turney, Mo., is geared toward family camping with games and activities, like miniature golf, bingo, horseshoes and fishing, for people of any age. The campground's rental cabins sleep eight people. Each cabin has four double bed bunkbeds. Cabin amenities include air conditioning, a refrigerator and a porch with a swing. They do not include bathrooms, running water, a kitchenette or bed linens. A shower and restrooms are located near the cabins. Cabin guests have access to campground amenities like the swimming pool, playground, laundry facilities and camp store.
