Holden Beach is a beachfront town of about 800 people located on the North Carolina Outer Banks. Holden Beach is about 40 miles south of Wilmington North Carolina, and about 40 miles north of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The primarily residential town is only about 3.5 square miles and has a very small commercial district. Nearby Ocean Isle Beach has a larger commercial district. Many people who visit Holden Beach for its quiet, uncrowded beaches actually stay at a hotel in Ocean Isle Beach.
