Motels in Yankton, SD

South Dakota's most historic town, Yankton is known as "The River City" because of its strategic location along the Missouri river in the southeastern area of the state. Budget conscious travelers visiting the area for personal reasons or business can choose from several locally-owned and chain motels and inns.
  1. Broadway Inn

    • Locally owned and located mid town Yankton near Mount Marty College and Yankton Mall, the Broadway Inn is a 37-unit restored motel with a variety of rooms, such as singles, doubles, family suites and units with kitchenettes. As of January 2011, single rooms, with either a queen- or king-sized bed, start at $45 per night; double rooms start at $50 per night; family suites with two bedrooms start at $85 per night; and units with kitchenettes are longer-term rentals with varied pricing.

      The motel also provides a continental breakfast, RV and truck parking, free wireless Internet, a computer in the lobby for guest use, fax-copy-scan service and the use of a VCR/DVD player upon request.

    Locally-owned Motels

    • The Star-Brite Inn Motel on East 4th Street offers single rooms (with a queen-sized bed) and double rooms. As of January 2011, the rate for one person, one bed is $40 per night; for two people, one bed is $50 per; and for two people, two beds is $48 per night. Guests can use a credit card to make a reservation over the phone or pay on the premises. Nonsmoking rooms are also available, and the motel offers free cable TV and HBO.

      A remodeled older motel built in the 1940s, The Star-Lite Inn Motel is located on Park Street near Avera Sacred Heart Hospital. As of January 2011, the Motel offers single rooms with queen-sized beds for $43 per night; double rooms with full-sized beds for $50 per night (double occupancy); and triple rooms with one queen and two full-sized beds for $68 per night. All rooms are air conditioned; the motel also offers nonsmoking rooms and discounts for seniors and hospital visitors. In addition, the motel provides a complimentary continental breakfast and truck parking.

    Lewis & Clark Resort

    • For price conscious guests who wish to enjoy the outdoors, the Lewis & Clark Resort offers 24 motel rooms that are walking distance from a marina, restaurant and sandy beach. The resort offers three types of smoke-free motel rooms: two queen-sized beds, one king-sized bed and twin bunk beds, and a queen-sized bed with twin bunk beds. From Memorial through Labor Day, the resort requires a two-night minimum; as of January 2011, the rates are $95 Sunday through Wednesday and $125 Thursday through Saturday and holiday weekends. During the off season, rates are $70 per night with no minimum night requirement. There is also no charge for children under 12 years.

      All motel rooms feature dorm-sized refrigerators and microwaves. Guests can also bring their dogs for a refundable $25 deposit.

    Days Inn and Super 8

    • The Days Inn on Broadway offers, as of January 2011, single rooms with queen-sized beds at $71 per night, double rooms with queen-sized beds at $71 per night, and suites starting at $106 per night; nonsmoking rooms also available. All rooms feature high-speed wireless Internet and coffeemakers. The Days Inn also offers a deluxe continental breakfast. Guests can also bring their pets for an additional fee.

      As of January 2011, the Super 8 motel on East Highway 50 offers single rooms with queen-sized beds for $52 per night; single rooms with king-sized beds for $55 per night; and double rooms with queen-sized beds for $58 per night; there are also nonsmoking rooms available. The Super 8 motel offers a free continental breakfast, local calls and high-speed Internet.

    Visiting Yankton

    • Visitors to Yankton and the area will find many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. There are more than 175 fishing lakes, and hunting is available year-round. There are also more than 30 miles of walking and hiking trails. There are also camping, fishing and boating opportunities along Lake Yankton, Lewis and Clark Lake and the Missouri River.

      For guests who enjoy culture and history, they can visit the Dakota Territorial Museum, stroll through the historic downtown area or traverse the Meridian Bridge.
