Haunted Houses in Bay Shore, New York

According the Visit New York website, the hamlet of Bay Shore is a large area in the Town of Islip on the south shore of Long Island. Bay Shore includes several popular haunted houses that attract visitors every October in the days leading up to Halloween.
  1. Zombieworld Attack of the Killer Clowns

    • The Zombieworld Attack of the Killer Clowns Haunted House is a popular attraction every year at the Deer Park Community Center in Bay Shore. The 7,000-square foot house is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night in October. A walk through the haunted house usually takes 12 to 15 minutes. There are 20 actors who scare guests in addition to 30 special animations. The Zombieworld Attack of the Killer Clowns Haunted House is known for being very scary and is not suitable for young children, or anyone who scares easily. In 2010, tickets were $12, but $10 per person for groups of four or more.

    Fire House of Terror

    • The Fire House of Terror is an annual haunted house organized by the North Babylon Fire Department. Admission was $10 for adults and children over age 12 in 2010. The Haunted House is open Fridays and Saturdays in October from 7 p.m to 12 a.m., and 7 p.m to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The two-story attraction uses props, actors and special effects. The Fire House of Terror is not recommended for young children, because there is a substantial amount of fake blood.

    Gateway's Haunted Playhouse of Horrors

    • The 100-year-old Gateway Estate is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. until 12 a.m. and weeknights and Sundays from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. The commercially run haunted house is a maze of special effects and scary encounters and is not recommended for children under age 13. Entry fees were $18 per person in 2010, although $3 discounts were available on some nights.
