Renting a cottage allows guests to have all of the comforts from home while they are away. The Vacation Lane Cottages property comprises a one-bedroom cottage and nine two-bedroom cottages to fit various family sizes. Rentals are available on monthly basis. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a microwave, and cable television is available in each of the cottages as well. Each cottage has its own private bathroom with shower. All linens are provided by the owners with the exception of towels in the summer months. Pets are allowed, but they must be leashed at all times and picked up after. A small pet deposit may be required. Smoking is allowed in the cottages and outdoor parking is available near each cottage. The total number of guests is open and set at the time of rental. As of March 2011, the rates are $500 per month for a one bedroom and $600 per month for a two bedroom, including all utilities.
Guests to the Vacation Lane Cottages can find outdoor activities available right on site. The cottages offer access to Sandy Lake, where guests can fish and swim. For the kids, the property also features swings, a slide and a sandbox. The duck pond is a peaceful place to sit and to watch the sun set or feed the ducks. A nature trail offers a pleasant walk for visitors and a bonfire can be created in the evening.
For those who enjoy the outdoors, Lake Cadillac, White Pine State Trail Park, Caberfae Scenic Outlook and the Keith McKellop Walkway offer such activities as hiking, fishing and boating. Snow mobile trails can also be accessed in the winter months. Downtown Cadillac has restaurants and shops to enjoy, as well as historical buildings and a city park. The Shay steam locomotive is on display in the city park. This train was specially built for the logging industry in the 1800s.
When people go on vacation, they do not always want to keep cooking for themselves. Those who wish to venture out of the cottage kitchen can find several restaurants in the city of Cadillac. As of March 2011, guests can choose from restaurants, such as Hermann's European Cafe, Da Dawg House, Herradura's Mexican Bar Grill and Lakeside Charlie's. These restaurants offer various cuisine, including European, American and Mexican. Most of the restaurants are located within several blocks of Lake Cadillac.
