The town of Santa Claus, Indiana is home of the world's first theme park. Santa Claus Land opened in 1946 as a tribute to the town's namesake. It was later expanded to include other holidays and the name was changed to Holiday World. Each year, the post office handles thousands of Christmas cards dropped off by tourists who want the Santa Claus postmark on their holiday greetings.

      Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort is located adjacent to Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. Guests may choose from family cabins to rental RVs with king-sized beds that sleep eight. Activities at this resort include an adult and kiddie swimming pool, volleyball, horseshoes, miniature golf, golf-cart rentals, playgrounds and basketball courts. Paddle boats and rowboats may be rented on Lake Rudolph. You can fish on the lake as well. Each campsite has a barbecue grill and picnic table for cookouts. Free shuttle service is available to Holiday World and Splashin' Safari during the season. A game room is located inside the camp store and features arcade-style games and billiards.

    Santa's Lodge

      Santa's Lodge is cheerfully decorated in a Christmas theme year-round. Guest rooms have one king or two double beds, recliner and work desk. Suites contain a king-size bed, sofa bed, whirlpool, mini-fridge and swivel rocking chairs. St. Nick's restaurant on site serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The lodge is also home to Frosty's miniature golf. This miniature golf course contains an arcade and snack bar. Guests may swim in the outdoor pool during the summer months, or enjoy the sparkling indoor pool and hot tub year-round. There are meeting rooms and banquet facilities at Santa's Lodge that can accommodate up to 375 people. A lakeside gazebo also provides a picturesque setting for a summer wedding.

    Santa's Cottages

      Santa's Cottages are located on a 2.6-acre lake just two miles from Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. Each cabin is equipped with a queen-size bed, Murphy bed and futon sofa. Each unit also has a fully equipped kitchen, free wireless Internet access and cable television. The resort's Elf Park features wooden carvings of Santa and his elves. There is also a playground, hammocks, sandbox, yard games and Elf Pond. Guests can even fish on the lake from the cabin patio. You may also feed the fish with free fish food supplied by the management. There are many fire pits throughout the resort along with a park-style barbecue grill at each cabin.

    Lincoln State Park

    • Abraham Lincoln.

      Lincoln State Park was developed in 1932 as a tribute to Nancy Hanks Lincoln. It is located near Abraham Lincoln's boyhood home, about 10 miles from Santa Claus. The park is also home to the Sarah Lincoln Nature Preserve. Lake Lincoln is open for swimming from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Cabins may be rented from April through November and sleep up to six travelers. There is a concession stand, bath house and boat rental available at the beach. Visitors may tour the home of Colonel Jones, a boyhood friend of Lincoln's, or take a hike past many historic sites such as Sarah Lincoln-Grigsby's grave and Little Pigeon Baptist Church. A nature center is open weekdays during summer months. There are multiple picnic areas with grills, a basketball court and horseshoe court.
