A majority of the RV campsites in the mountains of North Carolina are in or near the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. The mountain range is expansive and encompasses part of the Pisgah National Forest, which houses multiple RV parks.
The Mountain Stream RV Park is located in the Pisgah National Forest. The park is an RV-only site and has all gravel roads for easier maneuvering. Many of the RV sites are located on a stream so you can fish freely. The park has restroom facilities, a general store and basketball courts, horseshoe pits and play areas for kids. All of the sites have full hookups, picnic tables and fire pits. Site rate prices vary depending on the season and location in relation to the stream. The lowest rate is $27.75 while the most expensive rate is $48, as of 2010. The rates are for two adults and two children under 16 and there are also discounts available for weekly and monthly rates.
The Bear Den is also located in the Pisgah National Forest. It offers 400 acres of park with hiking, waterfalls and mountain views. The campground has 144 sites and most of the RV pull-through sites have water and electricity hookups. The park also has restroom and laundry facilities as well as a lake for fishing and swimming. RV site rates vary depending on the season and the type of hookups you are looking for. The rates run between $40 and $48. RV rentals that sleep up to six are also available starting at $70.
The Barefoot Landing RV Park is located on Lake James close to the Blue Ridge Mountains. RV sites are spacious with room for an RV, car and boat if you have one. The park is open from March to the middle of November. It offers hiking trails, a swimming pool, basketball courts and horseshoe pits. It is also near mountain gem mines, waterfalls and the Linville Caverns, as well as different golf courses. This park offers annual leases only for RV camping, so requests for rates should be made through the office by phone or online.
The Julian Price campground is located in the Blue Ridge Parkway and is near Price Lake. The lake allows fishing and boating, but motor-operated boats are not allowed. The campground has a mixture of tent-only and standard campsites, which allow RVs as long as the RV fits on the site space properly. There are no electrical or water hookups for any of the RV sites, however the park has a dump station and restrooms. Campsites are $19 per night and reservations should be made two days in advance.
