Camping Near Hanging Rock State Park, North Carolina

Perched high in the Sauratown Mountains of northwestern North Carolina, not far from the Triad and the Virginia line, Hanging Rock State Park gets its name from a monumental quartzite rock outcropping. However, with spectacular waterfalls, a 12-acre lake, crystal-clear mountain streams, heavily wooded hillsides and stunning overlooks, the 7,000-acre park is much more than its namesake rock formation. If you’re planning a camping trip to the area, you can set up your tent or park your RV at Hanging Rock or choose from three other campgrounds within a 30-mile radius.
