Camping in Table Rock, South Carolina

Table Rock State Park, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains provides both primitive tent camping and comfortable lodging within the 3083-acres of this forested park boundary. The temperature in this part of South Carolina ranges from the 30s in the winter to the upper 70s and 80s in the summer, with a good deal of humidity to contend with. The park itself provides plenty of amenities and recreational opportunities from solo hikes toward Table Rock to group water sports on Pinnacle Lake.
  1. Tent and RV Camping

    • This park provides 94 total camping sites with 69 sites near the park entrance and the other 25 near the White Oaks picnic area, each outfitted with water, electrical hookups and a picnic table. RV and trailer vehicle length is restricted to 40 feet or less. Primitive walk-in campsites with communal water facilities are available near Lake Oolenoy. These tent-only sites are perfect for thru-hikers, and cyclists. Wilderness camping is not permitted at Table Rock. Make reservations online or directly through the campground.

    Group Camping

    • Table Rock provides three sites specifically for group camping. Tent pads for six, seven and 11 guests are available. Contact the camp directly for group camping reservations. Rates for these sites are based on a 10-person occupancy and increase with additional guests.

    Amenities

    • The park provides a dump station, laundry facilities and hot showers and restrooms for guest use. A fully restored lodge facility is one of the highlights of the park. Build by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, the renovated lodge has made the National Registry of Historic Places and is available for rentals. A Visitors Center near the Hwy 11 entrance to the park supplies brochures, maps and has Wi-Fi Internet access. Families may enjoy spreading out in the one-, two- or three-bedroom furnished cabins available with screened-in porches, fireplaces and air conditioning.

    Activities

    • Hikers will enjoy the five trails leading from the campground, including the Foothills Trail and the trail to Table Rock Mountain. Trail lengths vary between the mellow 0.7-mile Mill Creek Pass hike up to the 4.1 hike to Pinnacle Mountain. Two nearby lakes, Pinnacle and Oolenoy provide angling for catfish, bream and bass. The lakes are also open for water sports such as kayaking, pedal boats, rowboats and private fishing boats. Lake Oolenoy is fitted with an accessible pier for those with mobility challenges. During the summer season, if lifeguards are available, a swimming area with high and low diving boards is open. Several ranger programs for all ages are also available during the summer months, and four picnic pavilions are available for rent.

    Getting There

    • Table Rock State Park is 12 miles from the town of Pickens and the nearest supermarket. Located 30 miles from Greenville, South Carolina, the park is directly off Highway 11, the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway. Highway 11 can be picked up from the east on Highway 288 or the south from Highway 178.
