James Island County Park in Charleston has 10 vacation cottages for rent that overlook the Stono River Marsh. Units sleep up to eight people in three bedrooms, and come fully furnished. Also included are a full kitchen, satellite TV, phone service and one bathroom. A shuttle service to downtown Charleston is available for an extra fee. Guests can take advantage of all the park has to offer, including tidal-creek fishing, boat rentals, bicycle rentals, a playground, paved trails and picnic areas. Reservations are required. Pets are allowed, but must be on leashes at all times when in the park.

Charleston KOA campground is located just outside the city, in Ladson. One-room, two-room and deluxe cabins are available, in addition to RV and tent sites. Cabin guests can take advantage of the swimming pool, snack bar, meeting rooms and playground. Activities such as golf, fishing and parasailing are all nearby. The campground frequently hosts holiday events and movie nights in the summer. Seven-day advanced reservations are required for cabin rentals. Pets are allowed.

Edisto Beach State Park is located to the south of Charleston on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, and has seven furnished cabins for rent. Amenities include a coffeemaker, TV, screened-in porch, cooking utensils, and heat and air conditioning; bath and bed linens are also provided. However, no pets are permitted in these accommodations. Cabin guests can use the dock for crabbing and fishing. Reservations are required; you can make them online or over the phone.
