Trout Fishing Cabins in South Carolina

When it comes to finding cabins that offer good trout fishing in South Carolina, the place to be is in the western part of the state. This mountainous area has many streams, rivers and lakes the state often stocks with trout. Oconee County is a particular hot spot to find cabins located near popular fishing spots.

  1. Devils Fork State Park

    • The Devils Fork State Park is Salem provides the only public access to Lake Jocasee in the Blue Ridge Mountains and is a popular place for trout fishing in the mountain lake. Easily accessible from the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Highway and featuring numerous hiking and nature trails, the park has a full campground that includes cabins that it calls cabin/villas. These cabins range in their number of bedrooms, but they all come with amenities such as linens, cooking and eating utensils, heat, air conditioning, microwaves, TVs, coffee makers, screened porches, outside grills and picnic tables. Four boat ramps provide access to Lake Jocasee, which is annually stocked with trout. RV and tent camping are also allowed in a park with picnic areas, various nature programs and bluegrass festivals.

    Oconee State Park

    • Built during the Great Depression, the Oconee State Park has two lakes that are stocked with trout in the winter. A park that serves as a trail head for the 80-mile Foothills Trail and located next to the Sumter National Forest, Oconee State Park is also near the Chattooga and Chauga rivers, which are popular sports for trout fishing and whitewater rafting. Located within the park are furnished cabins that come with a fireplace, heat, air conditioning, linens, cooking and eating utensils, coffee makers and microwaves. Thirteen of the cabins overlook a lake, while six more are in a secluded forested area. Non-motorized boats and canoes can be rented to fish on the lakes. The park also has four picnic areas, a playground and a park store with a gift shop.

    Shamrock House

    • Situated in the Cherokee Foot Hills in the mountainous area of the state, the Shamrock House is a historic log cabin where President Lyndon Johnson once stayed. On the northern border of the property is the Rocky Bottom Creek, which is known for having good trout fishing. The Shamock House Shamrock House consists of two stories with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cabin, which sleeps seven, has a full kitchen, large dining room and a living room with a fireplace. Next to the Shamrock House are former servants quarters and the "Trout Stream'' house that sleeps nine and has a deck that overlooks Rocky Bottom Creek.
