Just outside of town, you’ll find Edisto Beach State Park, one of South Carolina’s four state parks on the oceanfront. In addition to its beach, the park’s other recreational facilities include miles of trails for biking and hiking, boat ramps, fishing areas, picnic grounds and playgrounds. Available to either RVs or tents, the park’s campground has 111 developed sites, all with water and electricity. Tent campers who’d prefer to rough it can opt instead for one of five primitive sites or pitch their tents in a marsh-side tent camping area that features centralized water supply and tent pads. Seven rental cabins -- five with one bedroom each and two with three bedrooms each -- are available in a saltmarsh area adjacent to Scott Creek, about 1.5 miles from the ocean.
Thirty-seven miles northeast of Edisto Beach near the Charleston suburb of Hollywood, Lake Aire RV Park & Campground has roughly 115 campsites, including 87 for RVs and 26 secluded tent sites. Ancient moss-draped oaks provide shade for many of the campsites at Oak Plantation Campground, 39 miles northeast of Edisto Beach. The campground along U.S. Highway 17 is 10 miles from Charleston and the city’s many attractions, including Boone Hall and Magnolia plantations, Charleston Museum, Fort Sumter and South Carolina Aquarium. The 200-plus campsites -- more than half with full hookups -- at Oak Plantation are reserved exclusively for RVs. Among the campground’s facilities and services are a convenience store and paved roads, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, picnic area with covered pavilion, playground, dog run, fishing lake and coin laundry, as well as showers, restrooms, propane service and a dump station. All campsites have cable TV and Wi-Fi.

The park also has sport courts, a climbing wall and water park, and an 18-hole disc golf course. Open to RVs and tents, the park’s campground has 124 sites, most with full hookups. Each campsite has its own picnic table and fire ring or grill. Also available are 10 rental cottages, each with three bedrooms and one full bath.
