If you are vacationing in Myrtle Beach during the summer, check out the free concerts offered at McLean Park. Located at the intersection of Oak Drive and Second Avenue, McLean Park provides families with the opportunity to enjoy live music free of charge. Expect to hear jazz, beach music, 60s classics and soft rock covers. Throw down a blanket on the lawn and enjoy a picnic while listening to some bands. Alcohol is not sold or permitted in the park.
Located just a few miles north of the Myrtle Beach city limits off Route 17 and Route 179, Vereen Memorial Park and Gardens offers a beautiful natural landscape for you and your family to walk across and enjoy. The park is strewn with trails and walkways that stretch across saltwater marshes and small islands. There are observation decks that overlook the Intracoastal Waterway, as well as wooden boardwalks that provide views of the Little River waterfront.
If military aviation is something you are interested in, then you will want to head over to Warbird Park. Located on Farrow Parkway, Warbird Park is a five-acre area that provides visitors with access to up-close views of former military planes. In addition to the aircraft, there are trails that overlook and provide views of the Myrtle Beach airport runway.
This seems a little obvious, but no visit to Myrtle Beach is complete without spending some time basking in the sun on the beautiful beaches. Whether you stay at an ocean-side resort, condo or cottage, or you just visit for the day, the beach is always a must-see. Public access is always free, and you can easily find free parking if you arrive early enough and spend just a few minutes looking.
