How to Camp on Edisto Beach in South Carolina

Campers looking for a small beach town without heavy tourist traffic may find Edisto Beach, South Carolina an option for their next beach retreat. Edisto Beach is within an hour's drive south of Charleston and a couple of hours north of Hilton Head. The Edisto Beach State Park provides camping accommodations on its beach and along the salt marshes for relatively reasonable rates. Along with its affordable rates, Edisto Beach State Park offers a number of activities from fishing, boating and swimming to hiking, biking and educational programs.

      Reserve and pay for a campsite at Edisto Beach State Park online, entering the dates and site of your preference, or make the reservation by phone (see References). With the summer months being a busy time at Edisto Beach, it is best to make reservations well in advance for any summer visits. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance.

      Arrive at the park on the day of your reservation and check-in at the park office where you will receive a gate access code for your stay. If you will be arriving after 5 p.m., contact the park office prior to 5 p.m. to receive your gate access code.

      Set up camp at your reserved site on Edisto Beach and take advantage of the number of outdoor activities available at the park including the four-mile nature trail, bike trails, playground and boat dock.
