Camping Near Kure Beach, North Carolina

Kure Beach, North Carolina, is a small town on the southern portion of Pleasure Island, which lies between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. For its size, the coastal community is home to a large number of attractions, including the Confederate earthwork garrison of Fort Fisher; a variety of marine life at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher; and the historic Kure Beach Fishing Pier, first built in 1923 and reconstructed several times after major hurricanes. Kure Beach has one campground that's open only to military personnel, but several other public campgrounds are in nearby Carolina Beach.
