A five-mile drive from Wrightsville Beach, the Wilmington KOA provides RV sites, tent sites and cabin rentals. The RV sites are full hook-ups. Tent sites have a picnic table and fire pit. The tent sites are located near bathrooms that have showers though there is a fee for the showers. Firewood can be purchased on-site. The campground provides a camp store, a seasonal outdoor pool and a picnic pavilion. Classes for crafts, social events and special events are offered during the warmer months. The park is open year round and has discount rates during the winter months. The rates for the RV sites are approximately twice as much as the tent sites.

Carolina Beach State Park is less than 20 miles south of Wrightsville Beach and is situated in a wooded area along the Cape Fear River. There are 83 walk-in sites that have picnic tables and grills. It is a primitive campground with no water, electric or sewer hookups. Water, bathrooms, shower facilities and an RV dump station are in the park. There are no hook-up sites for RVs. The showers are free as long as you stay overnight. Features of the park including a visitors' center, hiking trails and a boat launch and dock at its marina. Reservations are required.

The Carolina Beach Family Campground is one mile south of Wilmington. The campground can accommodate anything from tents to motor homes. There are 117 wooded sites located around a bathhouse with showers, a dump station and a pool. Also on the grounds are a store and laundry facility. Campfires are allowed with weather permitting. Pets are allowed on a leash. The campground is 500 feet from the Intracoastal Waterway.
