Surf City Family Campground features 90 ocean-front camp sites located near beach dunes and close enough to the water to hear the waves crash on the shore. It offers 45 tent sites and 45 RV sites with full hook-ups, but no pull-thru facilities. Amenities are limited to bathrooms, showers, phones and cable television, along with a small game-room and playground. Though it isn't flashy, Surf City is a popular campground thanks to its beach-front sites, and it is usually crowded in the summer time with families who come to fish and beach-comb and splash in the waves. Pets are welcome.

Lanier's Campground is a large campsite with more than 400 sites, with 44 tent and full hook-up RV sites available for overnight camping (the rest are occupied by long-term tenants.) It sits along the Intracoastal Waterway between Holly Ridge and Surf City, and offers direct access to the water. Lanier's offers several amenities, including a private fishing pier and boat ramp, picnic tables, an outdoor swimming pool, an onsite restaurant, hot showers, laundry facilities and an arcade. It also offers interdenominational church services on Sundays. Leashed pets are welcome.

Blackbeard's Family Campground is located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Surf City. It offers 48 full hook-up sites for RVs and several tent sites with water and electricity. It offer daily, weekly and monthly rates and is convenient to several saltwater fishing areas. Amenities are limited to picnic tables, restrooms and hot showers and dump stations, but it is within easy walking distance to the beach, as well as groceries, gift shops, restaurants and a fishing pier. There are several golf courses and attractions within a ten-mile radius. Leashed pets are allowed
