Campsites Near Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina

Located along the Atlantic Ocean in New Hanover County, Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina, is 6 miles east of Wilmington and 121 miles southeast of Raleigh. For tourists, the town's shoreline is a popular destination for sunbathing, swimming, kayaking and fishing. Wrightsville Beach is also home to attractions such as the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History. Visitors to the area have a variety of accommodations from which to choose, including a number of private and public campsites.
  1. Wilmington KOA Campground

    • Wilmington KOA Campground is in Wilmington, North Carolina, approximately 6 miles from Wrightsville Beach (about 12 minutes away by automobile). The campground has 11 sites for camping in tents as well as 16 one- and two-bedroom cabins. For RV campers, 76 gravel campsites are available and can accommodate vehicles up to 65 feet in length. Around 50 of the sites are pull-throughs and have full electric, water and sewage connections. The remaining 26 spaces provide only water and electricity. Cable television connections are available at no charge, and campers can access free, wireless Internet throughout the grounds. The camp store sells groceries, RV supplies, propane and firewood. Restrooms, showers, a waste dump and a laundry facility are also on-site. A swimming pool is open for use from May to October. The campground also has horseshoe pits and a playground.

    Carolina Beach State Park

    • The North Carolina Division of Parks & Recreation operates public Carolina Beach State Park, which is in the town of Carolina Beach, around 18 miles from Wrightsville Beach (approximately 30 minutes by automobile). The campground consists of 83 dirt, back-in campsites that measure 15 feet by 30 feet in size. The sites can also be used for tent-camping. No hookups are available at the campground. Each space has its own picnic table and grill. For guests' convenience, restrooms, hot showers and a sewage waste dump are located on the property. The campground also has two group-camping sites that can accommodate 25 to 35 people. The Cape Fear River flows through the camp site, and the park provides a marina and boating ramp for fishing and boating. The park also has 6 miles of hiking trails. The Division of Parks & Recreation imposes a 14-day maximum length upon all visits to the park.

    Winner's RV Park

    • Also located in Carolina Beach, Winner's RV Park is a private campground 19 miles from Wrightsville Beach (about 29 minutes by automobile). The small campground has 22 grassy campsites available for recreational vehicle camping. Each campsite has full electric, water and sewage hookups. The campground does not have restrooms or showers available for guests' use. No on-site recreational activities are provided at the park, but its location is within walking distance to restaurants and activities in downtown Carolina Beach and also to a local beach. Reservations are highly recommended because of the small size of the campground.
