Cheap Campsites & Cabins in North Carolina

North Carolina is host to the Blue Ridge Mountains, several lakes and miles of pristine coastline with sandy beaches. Campers and vacationers will not be at a loss to find affordable accommodations with access to cultural, natural and historical attractions. The cheapest camping and cabin accommodations are located in the western mountainous region of North Carolina.
  1. Mt. Pisgah Campground

    • Mt. Pisgah Campground is located 20 miles east of Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina. The campground, part of the Mt. Pisgah National Forest, is open from May through October. As of August 2010, campsites were $19 nightly. Mt. Pisgah campground has several tent sites (no electricity/water/sewer hookups are available), restrooms, picnic tables, a supply store, drinking water and fire pits. Several hiking trails are located nearby. Pets are welcome, but must be leashed at all times.

    Rocky Bluff Campground

    • Rocky Bluff Campground is located along the shores of Spring Creek, 32 miles north of Waynesville in southwestern North Carolina. This campground has 30 secluded campsites, a picnic area, amphitheater, running water and bathrooms. The campground is open from May through October. As of August 2010, campsite were $8 per night, and campers can stay up to two weeks. Miles of hiking trails loop around the campground, and guests can visit the nearby historical Brooks Farm. Spring Creek is stocked with rainbow trout.

    End of the Rainbow

    • End of the Rainbow is a privately-owned cabin on Lake Lure in western North Carolina. This cabin sleeps from one to six people in two queen-sized bedrooms and one hideaway bed. Amenities include one bathroom, satellite TV, a DVD player, a ceiling fan, air conditioning and heating, and bedding. The full kitchen is stocked with a coffee maker, a dishwasher, a toaster and a grill. Guests have direct access to Lake Lure and its beaches. As of August 2010, the cabin rented for $130 nightly; a six-night minimum stay is required during peak season. Small, well-behaved dogs are welcome.

    Hideaway Park Cabins

    • Hideaway Park Cabins is a cluster of affordable cabins on 17 acres of land in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina and just a short drive from Hendersonville. Each single-floor cabin sleeps up to four people and has porch with a mountain view. Amenities include bedding, a bathroom, complete kitchen with coffee maker and grill, air conditioning, home theater, satellite TV a DVD player. As of August 2010, cabins rented for $99 to $189 nightly, with a minimum two-night stay required.
