Canton is a small town in northeast Texas best known for its shopping. The town is the site of the Uptown Canton Marketplace, an indoor marketplace with more than 150 different vendors, and the First Monday Trade Days, one of the oldest and largest flea markets in the country, which is actually held on the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday preceding the first Monday of the month. People come from all over to find deals in Canton, and there are several places suitable for recreational vehicle (RV) campers to set up.

    First Monday RV Park

    • The First Monday RV Park is located right at the Canton Civic Center and is open year round. There are both reserved and unreserved spaces available; reserved sites have a three-night minimum. All are pull-through sites with full hook-ups. Unreserved sites are first-come, first-served. Sites in the north have full hook-ups, while sites in the south area come with water and electric only, although there is a dump station located at the entrance. Besides being the site of the First Monday Trade Days, the park is a good location for large groups and RV rallies. There are roughly 2,000 RV spaces available, and the Civic Center has a kitchen, restrooms and concession stands. Tennis courts, a playground and a park are also located nearby.

    Texas Log Cabin RV Park

    • Texas Log Cabin RV Park is located close to several area lakes, including Lake Fork, Lake Palestine and Cedar Creek Lake. It’s also nearby Purtis Creek State Park, the Twin Lakes Golf Course and downtown Canton. Sites come with 20/30/50-amp service, water and sewer. Pull-throughs, back-ins and wireless Internet are available. Animals are welcome, provided they stay leashed. The park offers nightly, weekly and monthly rates. Members of Passport America, Good Sam, Happy Camper, Escapees and Woodall’s Trailer Life receive discounts of 20 to 50 percent.
