RV Parks in the Smoky Mountains

When you consider Great Smoky National Park is the most visited park in the country with between eight and 10 million visitors annually, it's no surprise that it is surrounded by a host of RV parks. These parks are particularly prevalent in the Eastern Tennessee towns of Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville, which are all close to each other and near various other attractions such as the Dollywood theme park.
  1. Smoky Bear Campground

    • The Smoky Bear Campground in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, has RV sites that come with water, sewer, 30- or 50-amp electric and cable TV connections. Each of these large sites that have room for slide-outs and awnings also has a picnic table, fire rings and Internet access. Nine of the sites are paved pull-throughs with 50-amp connections. The rest are back-in sites with 30-amp electric service. On-site amenities include a heated pool, a hot tub that is open during the warmer months, a playground, restrooms, showers and a laundry room. Another feature is a heated and air conditioned club house, which can accommodate 75 people and is free of charge for guests. A golf course is located within three miles of the park, which also a tent camping area and cabins.

    Ripplin Waters Campground

    • The Ripplin Waters Campground, situated in the Smoky Mountains in the town of Sevierville, has 156 RV sites located in shaded areas that come with water, sewer and electric connections up to 50 amps. Of those RV sites, 50 are located along the Little Pigeon River where permit fishing is allowed. The property, which also has cabins for rent, has a swimming pool, playground, bath houses, showers, public telephones, laundry facilities and car rental office. A propane filling station is on the grounds, which hosts church services and group rallies. Another plus is the on-site camp store that sells groceries, ice and RV supplies.

    Waldens Creek Campground

    • Surrounded by the Smoky Mountains and in the tourist town of Pigeon Forge, the Waldens Creek Campground features full hook-up RV sites with 20-, 30- and 50-amp electric. The RV sites are located in a campground with paved roads and come with cable TV and wireless Internet. A trolley-ride pickup that will take guests to Dollywood is available on the grounds. Amenities include laundry facilities, a creek where campers are allowed to fish, a picnic area with a pavilion, air conditioned and heated bath houses, a deck overlooking the creek and a recreation hall with a game room. Tent camping is also allowed on Waldens Creek Campground. Various annual events are held in this area, including the Smoky Mountain Jubilee.
