Nine California state beaches in the San Diego area allow RV camping. Spots in South Carlsbad, Silver Strand and San Elijo state beaches are within a short walk of the water.
Some RV parks have amenities for boaters. Mission Bay RV Resort, for example, has a boat launch ramp. Campland on the Bay, also along San Diego's Mission Bay, has a marina with a boat launch ramp, boat slips and marine supply store.
Although not directly on the beach, some RV parks are within a few minutes' drive of the ocean. Pacifica RV Resort, for instance, is three miles from the water.
Reservations may be required at RV parks in the San Diego area because the climate is pleasant year-round and spaces fill up quickly, especially during the summer and on weekends and holidays. Most RV parks allow you to make reservations on their websites.
