Located to the north of downtown San Diego, California's Mission Bay Park covers 4,200 acres of land and water. Surrounding the park and Mission Bay itself are a number of dining places that provide views of the area while you enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner before or after a day spent at the beach or boating. Among these establishments are Latin breakfast joints and restaurants that specialize in Californian cuisine.
Specializing in Latin cuisine, the Mission has served the Mission Bay area since January 1996. The restaurant held "Zagat" dining guide ratings of "very good to excellent" for its food and "good to very good" for its decor and service as of September 2010. A specialty breakfast is what the menu calls Mission "chilaguiles," which consists of corn chips, black beans, scrambled eggs and cheese topped with a tomato-ginger sauce. Another is the Mission rosemary, crispy fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, sauteed tomatoes and grilled rosemary bread. The lunch menu features sandwiches, wraps and quesadillas. The Mission serves breakfast and lunch daily. Reservations are not taken, and the wait for a table has the potential to be long during peak dining hours. Casual attire is appropriate.
