San Diego Mission Restaurants

The Mission Beach and Bay area in San Diego is home to many of San Diego’s resorts, family-friendly hotels and a variety of attractions including SeaWorld, Belmont Park and the Northern Wildlife Preserve. It’s also home to a range of dining opportunities, from inexpensive, fresh local cuisine to upscale dining along the waterfront.

    • This four-star restaurant along the beach offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch and a bar menu served up in a contemporary dining room with warm colors and modern appointments. The focus here is on local, organic foods and all-natural meats.

      The breakfast menu lists standards such as eggs Benedict, breakfast sandwiches, egg plates, omelets and breakfast burritos. Lunch starts include gazpacho, lamb meatballs, oysters and calamari. Cold salads range from the classic Caesar and Greek salads to a house smoked tri-tip or a sashimi salad with three kinds of fish. A lobster BLT and a blackened mahi mahi highlight the sandwich selection. The dinner menu changes frequently in accordance with seasonal availability, but features fresh seafood such as Mediterranean sea bass, octopus, king salmon and yellowtail. Hand selected by the chef, meats includes tenderloins, porterhouse, rib eye and smoked pork.

    Red Marlin Waterfront Restaurant Bar and Terrace

    • Located on Mission Bay, this full-service Hyatt Regency restaurant delivers an eclectic menu with a seafood focus on dinner items and a variety of standards for breakfast and lunch. The dining atmosphere is upscale casual with price points in the moderate range.

      Signature breakfast dishes at the Red Marlin include a smoked salmon plate, frittata and panini with steel cut oats, organic daily cereal, egg dishes, hash, Benedicts and a buffet to round out the morning menu. Lunch offers steamed clams, roasted beets and goat cheese starters and provides main courses such as a crispy chicken plate, blue crab cakes and a classic salads and sandwiches. Dinner guests choose from blackened swordfish, pan roasted halibut, seafood arrabiata, and seared sea scallops as well as chicken, pork and beef dishes. Sides include local organic mushrooms, sautéed greens and grilled asparagus with toasted hazelnuts.

    Isabel's Cantina

    • This Latin and Asian fusion restaurant is part of a growing enterprise that includes Chef Isabel Cruz’s well-reviewed cookbook and several restaurants along the west coast. A full-service restaurant, Isabel’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a bar and brunch menu as well.

      The breakfast menu includes coconut French toast, scrambles, soy and traditional chorizo and a house-roasted grain cereal. The lunch crowd chooses from vegetables, meat and rice dishes, Asian-influenced quesadillas, crispy noodle salads, bowls and soups. Dinner appetizers feature exotic combinations such as plantains and caviar and ahi wontons with entrees ranging from flat-iron steak to a half-chicken plate cooked in one of four seasoning combinations. Desserts stay simple with a coconut flan or flourless chocolate cake.

    The Mission

    • The Mission restaurant in Mission Beach completed a renovation in September of 2010. Currently one of three locations in the southern California franchise, this café-style eatery offers breakfast and lunch seven days a week. The breakfast menu has received high praise, winning a Golden Local award from NBCSanDiego.com, and awarded San Diego’s 2010 Best Breakfast by San Diego Magazine. The menu is reasonably priced with the majority of items running less than $10.

      Customers can choose from a pancake menu, house-made granola, egg and potato dishes and Latino-style fare for breakfast. The lunch menu offers quesadillas, roll-ups, soft tacos, bowls and sandwiches. Meats, tofu, fresh vegetables and fruit are well represented throughout.
