Breakfast Restaurants in Howard County, MD

Considered by the U.S. Census Bureau as one of the wealthiest counties in the country, the affluent Maryland region was ranked as one of Money magazine's Best Places to Live and by Forbes magazine as one of the best places to raise a family. No surprise, then, that the region is burgeoning with a diverse array of family-friendly breakfast places and spaces.
  1. Donna's

    • Boasting locally produced eggs and meat from an area farm, Donna's delivers a stand-out brunch menu every Saturday and Sunday. Greek yogurt with fresh mint and pistachio, granola served with dried fruit and steel-cut oatmeal tossed with Granny Smith apples will delight health-conscious guests. Donna's substitutes Capicola for Canadian ham and dresses poached eggs with basil hollandaise for their spin on eggs Benedict. Of course, steak and eggs skips the predictable T-bone in favor of filet mignon. On Sundays, guests will enjoy a buffet brunch with mimosa included in the price.

    Forest Diner

    • Got a 9 p.m. hankering for ham and eggs? Get thee to Forest Diner, where breakfast is served day and night. The establishment is a love among locals who celebrate its old-style dining car architecture over newer prefab models like those of its competing neighbors. The breakfast menu at Forest consists of everything from breakfast burritos to Belgian waffles, and the Forest Diner understands that a Maryland menu would be remiss without a crab omelet offering. As if paying homage to its loyal customer base, guests can enjoy half-price meals with the full-price purchase of any entree--breakfast, lunch or dinner.

    Trolley Stop

    • In one of Ellicott City's oldest buildings, the Trolley Stop restaurant and pub was built in 1833 as a country inn and tavern. Standing in one of the seedier parts of town, guests consider the rustic feel of the area part of the restaurant's charm. Menu prices are pretty reasonable and the fare, though basic, is quality. At Trolley, guests aren't overwhelmed with a breakfast menu saturated with options, but the available choices - omelets, French toast, pancakes, grits - should please any morning person.

    Charter Deli

    • A deli that delivers? Sleepyheads will ask to be pinched when they hear that Charter will deliver to their doors anything on the menu, including breakfast. Gourmet muffins, potato knish, bagels and lox are just a few of the old-school deli samplings that Charter offers on the go, and home-bound foodies might return for seconds when they get a load of the deli's extensive sandwich creations.
