    Prescott National Forest

    • The Prescott National Forest has two campgrounds in Clarkdale, both open from May 1 through Nov. 1. Campers will find Mingus Mountain Campground in the pines on top of Mingus Mountain. The campground has two sections, one suited for RVs and the other for tents. The RV section of the campground offers electric hookups only. Water is available in the campground; however, water hook-ups are not available. Pines provide shade, yet still allow views of the Verde Valley. The campground has 29 sites with picnic tables and grills. Only eight of the sites are suitable for pull-through setup. Modern restrooms and showers are not available at Mingus Mountain. Vault toilets are located on-site and are wheelchair accessible. Hiking and fishing are both plentiful in the area.

Potato Patch Campground is also located in the pines on top of Mingus Mountain. Campers can choose from one of two loops with camping sites. The first loop has 12 sites with electric hook-ups, and pull-through parking is open to RVs only. The 28 sites, which offer limited privacy, in the second loop are open to both tents and RVs, but do not have electric hook-ups. Water spigots are available in the second loop, and the sites in this area offer better privacy. All sites have picnic tables and grills. Like Mingus Mountain Campground, Potato Patch does not offer modern restrooms, but does have vault toilets available, which are handicap accessible. A 2.5-mile hiking trail is accessible from the campground.
