Known as an entertainment venue with live music, pay-per-view events and outdoor concerts, Symons Valley, 20 minutes south of Calgary, offers more than 140 sites for RVers who are in town for the show, or just passing through. All sites offer full hookups and Internet access. The park provides laundry, shower facilities and a general store. Symons Valley is also home to a full-service steakhouse and lounge.

This campground is within two miles of the "Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump" site and Interpretive Center where visitors can view archeological artifacts and historical information about these aboriginal hunting grounds. The campground is open from May through September and offers both pull-through and back-in sites for rigs up to 40 feet in length. Most sites are equipped with 30-amp electrical power, although non-electrical sites are available. Camp amenities include game courts, free wireless Internet, laundry and a book exchange. Buffalo Plains is also within 20 minutes of Fort Macleod.

Open for both winter and summer camping, Mt. Kidd RV Park is located south of Kananaskis Village and is a short drive from Mount Allen, home to the ski slopes of the 1988 Olympic winter games. This family-friendly facility in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies provides both full-hookup and primitive campsites. Amenities include tennis courts, hot tubs, a convenience store, picnic sites along the river, interpretive programs in the summer and scheduled activities for the kids. The park is in proximity to area golfing and walking and biking paths, and is one hour west of Calgary.
