The town of Vail, Colorado, is one of the premier tourist destinations in the Centennial State. Settled by frontiersman in the mid-19th century, Vail now boasts one of America's best skiing resorts. However, Vail has rapidly become a year-round destination, and a haven for outdoor enthusiasts such as mountain bikers and sightseers in general. The town even features some of the area's most renowned cultural events, such as the Vail Film Festival.

    • The Tiger Run RV Resort, located in neighboring Breckenridge, Colorado, bills itself as the state's "premier destination resort." Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, the resort features amenities and services such as a 12,000-square-foot clubhouse with an indoor pool and hot tub, outdoor athletic courts for games such as basketball and volleyball, and the Swan River, which runs through the resort and is used for fishing. A paved pathway even connects Breckenridge to Vail. The premium RV sites measure 50 feet wide and 80 feet long. The resort also offers rental cabins.

    River Dance RV Resort

    • Located west of Vail, off Interstate 70, is the family-owned River Dance RV Resort. The site has been owned by the same family since 1882. Amenities include private landscaped patios, a dumping service on site, complimentary Wi-Fi, gift shop, private showers, and an enclosed pet area. In addition, for the price of $5, cinnamon rolls and a daily newspaper are also offered to guests during the summer (June through August).

    Sylvan Lake State Park

    • Also west of Vail is Sylvan Lake State Park, which is maintained by the Colorado State Government. The park offers 44 campsites, all of which can accommodate an RV or trailer. The sites, however, do not have individual hookups. In addition to summer educational programs, the park hosts numerous outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, ice fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, and whitewater rafting.
