Norwegian-American Immigrant Family Monument: Location Corrected

The Norwegian-American Immigrant Family Monument Commission is not in Lake Mills, Iowa. The monument and its associated commission are based in Decorah, Iowa—a historic center of Norwegian-American culture in the Midwest.

Decorah, in Winneshiek County, hosts the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum (the largest museum in the U.S. dedicated to a single immigrant group) and is the site of the annual Nordic Fest. The monument itself, sculpted by Knut Stevenson and dedicated in 1976, stands on the Vesterheim grounds, honoring the millions of Norwegians who settled the Upper Midwest.

Lake Mills (Winnebago County) has its own Norwegian heritage but is not the location of this national monument.
