Public Use Cabins at the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge

The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska is a wildlife refuge designated to conserve a variety of native Alaskan wildlife, including Kodiak brown bears, migratory birds, and marine mammals, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The refuge has a total of eight public use cabins, available for overnight stay. All cabins are considered primitive, with no electricity or plumbing and have outhouse style toilets. Although some of the cabins have wood-burning stoves for heat, the majority of cabins are not recommended for use from November 1 though March 31, due to the possibility of the lake waters freezing. Reservations for all public use cabins need to be made either online via the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge area of the recreation.gov website or by telephone.
