Private Cabins Near the Sequoia National Forest

The Sequoia National Forest in California features giant Sequoia trees, and offers more than 800 hiking trails, 200 caves to explore, and 50 cross-country ski trails for winter visitors. You can swim in Hume Lake during the summer, visit the Giant Forest Museum or go fishing, horseback riding and spelunking while staying at nearby private cabins.

Each cabin has a queen-sized bed with bedding included, a deck with a hammock, grill and table and chairs, a kitchenette with pots, utensils, dinnerware, glasses, spices and a stove-top coffee percolator. The bathrooms have bath soap, shampoo, toilet paper and towels. The cabins have forced air heat, portable fans and swamp coolers, satellite radios and televisions with VCR and movies, but no air conditioning, toasters or microwaves due to energy costs. As of May 2010, prices range from $145 per night to $165.

    River Inn & Cabins

    • River Inn & Cabins offers four cabins for rent one mile from the Ash Mountain entrance of Sequoia National Forest, each with fully-equipped kitchens, a gas grill and table and chairs on the deck, and each providing bed and bath linens. Two of the cabins feature one bedroom with a queen-sized bed and sleeps two persons, another cabin has a queen-sized bed plus a queen sofa bed and sleeps four, while the largest cabin features three bedrooms and sleeps up to eight people. A private hot tub is available in one of the cabins. Price per night ranges from $119 to $289 for the three-bedroom cabin as of May 2010.

    Grant Grove Cabins

    • Historic Grant Grove Cabins are located within Sequoia National Forest beyond the Big Stump Entrance. Eight duplex cabins each offer a pair of double beds, private bath, propane heat, daily housekeeping and coffee maker, but no kitchen. Two restaurants, an espresso bar, gift shop and market are located within the Grant Grove Complex. One cabin (referred to as the "honeymoon cabin") features a queen bed and private bath with the same amenities as the duplex cabins. For a more rustic experience, 24 Camp Cabins are available that feature two to three double beds, electricity, propane heater, a picnic table with outdoor stove, and daily housekeeping. These cabins share a centrally located bathhouse. Prices vary, ranging from $75 to $145 as of May 2010.
