The following information must be included on the Declaration of Intent to Homeschool:
- Name, address, and phone number of the parent or guardian
- Name, age, and grade level of each child to be homeschooled
- A statement that the parent or guardian will provide the required instruction for each child
In addition to filing the Declaration of Intent, parents or guardians must also keep records of their child's attendance and progress. These records must be maintained for at least three years and must be made available to the school district upon request.
Parents or guardians who homeschool their children in Texas are not required to have a teaching certificate. However, they are encouraged to have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide their child with a quality education.
