The hotel began receiving visitors in 1845, when the mineral waters of its sulfur springs were the main attraction. The National Historic Landmark was built in 1902, and went through a complete renovation in 2007. The hotel features a six-story atrium that is 200 yards across and covered with a glass dome. The atrium is surrounded by guest rooms. The hotel lobby is decorated with marble columns, gilt molding and European antiques. The hotel has access to all recreational activities at the French Lick Springs Hotel, including swimming pools, stables and hiking trails.
Powers Inn, located 20 miles south of Loogootee in Jasper, is set in a Second Empire home with original wood floors and a Mansard roof. Breakfast is served each morning in the inn's large dining room, and includes homemade breads, muffins or and other specialties. The inn, which is decorated with antiques, also features a communal sitting room, flower gardens and a brick patio. The inn is located a few blocks from Jasper's historic Courthouse Square.
