The highway is loaded with restaurants, from local country cooking to Japanese steakhouses and fast food fare. For years, Gatlinburg was the tourist mecca for the Smokies, but Pigeon Forge is catching up rapidly.

    Country Cooking

    • Southern food, or country cooking, is the unique food you may enjoy in Pigeon Forge. A breakfast of cured ham and eggs is popular. Hickory smoked bacon or sausage is also popular. Other local foods include fried green tomatoes, Southern grits, applesauce, and chicken fried steak, which is a steak battered and deep fried. Gravy is on just about everything.
