The Classic AAA Membership provides many of the benefits commonly associated with being an auto club member. Members are entitled to free 24-hour roadside assistance for any car that they are in, whether they are passenger or driver, up to four times per year. Roadside assistance includes battery jumpstarts, fuel delivery, tire changes and minor repairs. Classic Memberships offer free towing back to the station where the tow truck came from, or up to five miles away to a place that you choose. AAA members at this level can also request free maps, travel guides and travel planning assistance from AAA travel offices, as well as discounts from participating businesses.
The Plus Membership costs more than the Classic membership, but offers free towing up to 100 miles from the place where your car broke down, enough free emergency fuel to get you to the nearest gas station if you run out and up to $100 in parts and labor for a vehicle locksmith's service. These benefits are in addition to all of the benefits offered in the Classic membership.
If you have been a member of AAA for at least one year and are a Plus member in good standing, you can be upgraded to an AAA Premier Membership, which extends your Plus membership benefits. Premier members are allowed one 200 mile tow and three 100 mile tows. These members also receive rental car benefits, free travel accident insurance and a dedicated toll-free number for more personalized service. This plan offers the most coverage and highest level of benefits.
If you own a motorcycle of recreational vehicle, AAA has membership options that cover those vehicles, too. Your regular AAA membership does not apply to motorcycles and RVS. AAA RV and motorcycle memberships offer the same benefits as the other plans.
When you buy an AAA membership, you purchase coverage for yourself. If you wish to add anyone else to the plan, such as a spouse or child, they are called associate memberships. Associate memberships are reduced-rate AAA memberships attached to the primary member. Associate members must live in the same household as the primary member. You can add up to six associate memberships to your plan. If you wish to cover someone not living with you, you can purchase a gift membership. All associate and gift memberships have all of the benefits of the membership level purchased. The costs for AAA memberships vary depending on the level of coverage you choose and where you live. You can purchase a membership from your local AAA office or via the AAA website, where you will automatically be directed to your regional club.
