Kankakee Railroad Museum

Kankakee County Museum

• Students can learn about the history of Kankakee and the surrounding area during a field trip to the Kankakee County Museum. The museum houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to Kankakee County's first century of existence. Other permanent exhibitions are dedicated to Kankakee residents who went on to become governor of Illinois, and busts of Abraham Lincoln designed by George Grey Barnard. While at the Kankakee County Museum, students can learn what school was like in the early 1900s by visiting a one-room school house constructed in 1904.
