Three-day getaways can be lots of fun and give everyone a break from their hectic lives. The keys to planning a simple and short vacation are budget, location and activities.
If your budget is limited, then a simple camping trip or lake getaway may be the answer. You'll be able to relax and enjoy nature without breaking the bank. If your budget is larger, look into something more adventurous, such as a three-day pass to an amusement park or a trip to a casino.
With just three days, you won't want to spend most of your time driving. Look for someplace within two or three hours' drive so you'll have time for fun every day you're away. If you can afford a short flight, a quick trip to a big city such as Las Vegas or New York City may be within your range. Look for hotels offering weekend packages or three-day deals in midweek.
If you're traveling with children, look for a hotel with a pool, game room or some other attraction. Water parks, zoos and festivals are good for kids--and adults, too. Adults traveling without children may enjoy a spa getaway or a couple of night in a cozy bed and breakfast. Don't try to cram in too much--a three-day vacation should be relaxing and just long enough to recharge your batteries.
