How to Camp in France With a Tent

France is the third biggest country in Europe and is very blessed with many campgrounds which have swimming pools, entertainment facilities and beach locations. The camp sites are intended to be a vacation while you can enjoy French history and culture. Camping can be considered as the cheapest form of having a vacation since you can pitch your tent in some places for as low as $25 compared to renting the expensive hotels. Some campers come to France with their own tents however; there are a few camp sites that have different types of tents for rent.

Instructions

  1. Before You Camp in France

    • 1

Choose which region in France you wish to camp in (see the resources for the site). You can select from the themes box in the site for specific locations of camp grounds such as those camps that are near the beach, camps with covered pools and those camps with mini- clubs plus those campsites which have a built-in tent camp facility.

    • 2

Check your chosen camp site for more information like the schedule of the camp site since some sites are open from April to August only and some are open until the end of October. You should also check if there are available tents for rent in the camp site you have chosen but you can bring your own tent just in case.

    • 3

Determine the size of the tent you will need depending on how many of you are going camping. The brand may not be that important but the size and if it is waterproof will definitely matter. You should try to pitch the tent before you decide to go so you can check if all the components are intact.

    • 4

Get the contact numbers of local officials near the place where you will camp if you decide to set up camp in sites other than the licensed locations such as parks, which is called "wild camping." You may need to get permission from the local tourist information office.
