Buy a 3 for 1 San Diego, California, Multi-Pass that covers the zoo, the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Sea World San Diego. The pass is available online or at the ticket window of any of the three parks. The price was just over $120 in 2011; it would cost more than $145 to see all three individually.

Check the San Diego Zoo site itself for discounts. As of 2011, the zoo offered a year-round membership for $96 for two adults or $75 for a single adult, and $35 or $39 deals for kids ages 3 to 17. While those prices were only for area residents, visitors could join the Curator's Club for $250. The Curator's Club covered two adults, or one adult with a guest and several benefits such as guest coupons, bus tour coupons and a magazine subscription. It is worthwhile if you plan to visit the zoo several times in the same year.
