The iron lattice tower built in the nineteenth century is the tallest building in Paris and is visited by millions of people each year, making it the most-visited paid tourist attraction in the world. Therefore, while it is relatively easy to buy tickets to visit the top of the Eiffel Tower, visitors to Paris may wish to be aware of the following comments in regards to the purchasing of tickets to the monument.

      It is first necessary to know when exactly the Eiffel Tower can be visited. The tower is open every day, all year long, but its hours differ upon the time of year. From January 1 to July 12, the elevators run from 9:30 am to 11:45 pm. From June 13 to August 31, the summer hours are from 9:00 am to 12:45 am. From September 1 to December 31, the hours resume at 9:30 am to 11:45 pm. Be forewarned that tickets to the top of the tower are only sold until 9:30 pm. Tickets to the first and second floors are sold until 10:00 pm.

      To reach the Eiffel Tower, take the Metro Line 3 to Station Champs de Mars-Tour Eiffel.

      Ticket prices vary depending on 1) which floor one wants to visit and 2) the age of the visitor. Elevators to the second floor cost 8.00 € for adults and 6.40 € for youths aged 12 to 24. For handicapped persons and children aged 4 to 11, the price is 4.00 €. To get to the top floor, adults must pay 13.00 € and youths aged 12 to 24 must pay 9.90 €. Handicapped persons and children 4 to 11 pay 7.50 €. For those who don't mind the extra effort, taking the stairs is a cheaper option: 4.50 € for adults, 3.50 € for youths, 3.00 € for children. Tickets may be purchased beneath the tower. Arrive early or expect a line.
