The days are warm and exciting in Puerto Vallarta. A pair of top attractions are the canopy and outdoor adventure tours. These tours offer a chance to zip through lush treetops, cross swinging bridges, slide down zip lines and climb rope ladders. The city also offers wildlife connections that allow swims with dolphins in open waters and whale-watching and an educational experience to boot. Other popular activities include shopping, spas, snorkeling and pirate tours in Banderas Bay, around $65 for adults and $35 for kids.
Puerto Vallerta is a city with many faces. It all depends on what you're looking for, and if you're looking for a romantic getaway, you're in luck. Start with a walk on the Malecon, a waterfront that winds along the ocean north of the Rio Cuale. Next, try a hot air balloon ride over Banderas Bay where you can be alone 500 feet in the air. It's around $200 to $300 and lasts an hour, but few things are as romantic or memorable. Finally, for dinner, Chino's Paradise overlooks natural rock pools as you sit outside and cool off from your day. It's not overpriced, either.
Nightlife is a specialty in Puerto Vallarta. Enjoy the strip on Malecon, party at Zoo bar (pictured), dance at El Hilo, or remember your youth at College Club, perhaps the craziest of all the party spots. College Club holds more than 2,000 people and guarantees a pretty good time. If you're looking for something a bit smaller, try Carlos O'Brien's or Senor Frogs. If you want something more out of the ordinary, take a puddle jumper 45 minutes away for a tequila tour that you almost certainly WILL forget!
