St. Kitts is blessed with several postcard-perfect beaches. Go for a swim in the calm waters of South Friars Bay, or play in the surf in North Friars Bay. If you're in a romantic mood, head to quiet Sandy Bank. Visit the monkeys that frequent Turtle Beach, or go snorkeling in White House Bay. Book a scuba dive with one of the many diving operators on the island--nearby dive sites include wrecks, reefs and underwater caves.
Aside from snorkeling and diving, other water activities include kayaking, surfing, jet skiing and windsurfing. You can also rent catamarans for day or evening sails and take a tour of the sea by glass-bottom boat.
Take of a tour of the island via double-decker railcar on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway. Enjoy the view from Brimstone Hill Fortress, a British fort built by African slaves and completed in the 1790s. Pay a visit to Romney Manor, a 17th-century estate that encompasses 10 acres and features a 350-year-old saman tree so wide that it takes up a half acre.
Play a round of golf at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, which boasts an 18-hole championship course, then cap off the day's activities with an evening of shopping in Basseterre, the island's capital, where you can buy local crafts such as batik prints and earrings made from cattle horn.
Go for a hike through the verdant jungle on Wingfield-Phillips Forest Nature Trail. Trek through rainforest to the top of Mount Liamuiga, a dormant volcano that rises nearly 3,800 feet above sea level. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even descend part of the crater.
Those with the need for speed can take an adrenaline-inducing zipline tour over lush rainforest and be rewarded with panoramic views of St. Kitts.
St. Kitts is famous for its bird watching. Take a bird-watching tour, or simply grab a pair of binoculars and set out on your own. Birds you might see include the grey kingbird, brown pelican and black-faced grassquit.
